The wave and the place

El Sunzal is a right hand point on El Salvador's Pacific coast, about an hour from the capital. It's a cobblestone point that peels slow and long, the kind of wave where you have time to walk the board. La Ola sits on the point itself. You walk down the steps and paddle out.

February sits in the dry season. Offshore mornings, warm water, and consistent swell without the summer size. It's our first retreat where the wave is at the front door.

A day on the trip

No set session times. The wave's right out front of La Ola, so you surf as much as you want, whenever you want.

Shooting and filming

Tommy's shooting windows and the filming windows get called each day, so you know when to paddle out if you want photos and video of your waves.

Who it's for

Small group. Intermediate level.

You need to be comfortable catching your own waves and ready to surf a lot. If you can paddle into a wave on your own and trim down the line, you're ready for this. If you're still working on standing up, this isn't the right trip yet. Message either one of us and we'll tell you honestly.

FAQ

What currency do they use?

The US dollar.

What should I bring?

Your longboard, fins, wax, sunscreen, a hat, a rash guard, and a beach towel. The point is cobblestone, not sand. Fins and beach towels aren't provided.
